Moderators and admin staff for websites are dangerous – especially in forums. They can come across as highly critical, arrogant and sometimes stupid. I hope this is not applicable here. I had the pleasure of coming across someone, very much more knowledgeable and God forbit cleverer than myself on the subject whom purchased his own 3D printer and then used it to build another one. The steppers and print head were purchased. I look at 3D printers and realise that most have three axis but possibly could run a five axis geometry. The entire instrument is not just an additive component but one with simple modification could be used for subtractive modeling as well.
On a recent mission I decided that our Asian friends are already jumping on the band wagon – over six months its been an amazing ride. What will happen in the next six? So the question that arises – whom has built a 3D printer that can be used as a milling machine. Or vice versa. This is parts manufacture at it’s very best.
