I am interested in getting my hands on one of Babani’s books published about 40 years back which gave details into building a 1000W audio amplifier. My interest here would be more around the type of tubes used and the audio output transformer. If one could get your hands on an old modulator for a AM or double sideband transmitter – especially for marine use would be fantastic. The marine SSB transmitters ran at 1.5kW PEP so power supplies of 3kW rating were common. Has anyone gone to this extent and what was the quality like? I’m sure these transmitters could be picked up at bargain prices.
