X-Factor 2011 USA

On December 27, 2011, in Uncategorized, by admin

The latest X-Factor came and went and to the larger extent I was very impressed by what I saw and heard. The judges were at each other’s throats only because possibly they are paid to do this.  LA Reid was ever the professional – Simon Cowell added good entertainment value, the two ladies added the H-Factor (Human Factor) but I think what made the show was what it was all about in the first place:  Fun, tears and wonderful talent.

Parts-ring has a new module attached called OPiC. The intention here is for all users to register, add their business, add manufacturer contact details, post a request, list goods to buy, sell and exchange. You can add diagrams and an abbreviated catalogue of your own. Try it out and see. The writers are currently putting in a social network connection for Facebook as well as it’s own content managed system social networking module, Community Builder.  The OPiC System – http://www.parts-ring.com/Welcome/welcome.html

OPiC System

With the current market for new products being as bad as it is we feel that it’s time to have a website promoting second hand products. As a reader you may be compelled to ask yourself why this would be – there’s plenty already on the web. True, but most of them seem to be directed to a specific product or products, brands and can cost a lot to advertise as well.  The OPiC system is raw, we know that, however in time we are hoping to add a more sophisticated exchange process and one which communicates via your own feeds.

South African Idols – year 10

On June 19, 2011, in Music, by admin

The first of this year’s South African Idols kicked off two weeks ago in Cape Town with a resounding crash, the first two contestents off to Sun City and ending off with possibly singing sensation, Mark Haze.  Unlike a very modest Elvis Blue, Mark Haze said he is to become the Idol this year. Well, let’s wait and see. Personally I think he “has the pipes”as Gareth Cliff put it so mildly. He should – he has been with group “14th Avenue” for quite some time. I won’t go into details -  the auditions have only just started.  But I think Haze will make the top 30, hopefully top 12.

Music for All

On April 3, 2011, in Music, Uncategorized, by admin

Lady Gaga, Madonna, Rihanna and Beyonce,  Sabbath and Metallica, Dylan, Blunt and Seger. I’m listening to them right now. All brilliant artists. I went through a phase where Beyonce was played every day, then Rihanna, then Bob Dylan etc, etc, etc. Right now I play Gaga’s music to death. This woman is phenomenal – from bopper to mature adult she captures a wide spectrum audience.  Like all of the above she won’t be forgotten a long time after her voice fades. What makes Lady Gaga sensational though? She may be a slight (ummmm) copycat of Madonna – my own feeling is that Madonna had the right package at the right time, she is a brilliant dancer, contrary to popular belief I do think she can act and more importantly when I was in my early twenties I had a crush on Madonna.

Bruno Mars – Fact or Fiction

On January 23, 2011, in Music, Uncategorized, by admin

Is this a Jackson a clone, a wannabe, an impostor, a falsetto being false. Listening to one of our local radio stations ummm about two months back I heard this guy Bruno Mars belting out a number which sounded oh so much like Jackson (Grenade), I thought it was. Shall I beat him to death in this article. Quite the contrary. We won’t have another Jackson. But the voice lives on. Oh, yes it does.  Bruno doesn’t have the higher registers under his belt but I think I am going out to buy his DVD – right now!  Does he even have a DVD?

Coega and Tree Huggers

Word has it that Petro South Africa is building an oil refinery in the Eastern Cape. Word also has it that the top players in the oil arena are all going to do their damnedest to find oil in this impoverished area. I wonder which one is true?

Drunk Driving and Crime Prevention

On January 2, 2011, in Uncategorized, by admin

Interesting to note that again our South African drivers have come under scrutiny, esp. with 1100 people killed since the beginning of the 2010/2011 season. We have the roadblocks, we have the police and we have full support of government and the Lead SA campaign but still we have this carnage.

Bus Versus Butt

Hey geniuses, this is Sam again!”

Noticed the similarity between trying to get home quickly, a bus blocking the lane and a plodder in the shopping aisle where you need something?

Hi Folks

Merda Taurorum Animas Conturbit

There seems to be a whack of intelligence out there that focus on the MBA – management and leadership . Does this make you a leader, manager or an excellent politician? I write this article in a professional capacity and not to jest at those that are going through the hardship of aiming to get an MBA.

Music: Who, New or a Monkey

On December 12, 2010, in Music, by admin

Howzit fellows!

Heard something interesting last night when I watched “America’s Go Talent Season 4001″ – a guy dressed up as a clown suit slandering Sharon Osbourne’s husband Ozzie. Oh yes, we never heard what he said but we know what she said when she rebuked him, if that’s the word.   Yes Sharon, good for you.  When I was still a monkey in the ’70s the only guy that counted was Ozzy. The only group that counted was Sabbath. My older brother was a lover of Deep Purple, his mate was into the American group Grandfunk Railroad and frankly I loved them all. Kids nowadays don’t know what lead to what and why we have Metallica, a group that stamps the signature on most modern heavy rock . Is it heavy rock nowadays? I’m not pedantic and I really don’t care. Ozzy did it for me. I have Sabbath’s ”Last Supper” on DVD. Brilliant musos, old and new, but all Ozzy.
